Freezer Failed

This upright 16 cuff freezer failed at 3 yrs and 9 months due to oil dripping on the evaporating cable. A complete scrub. I had to call a repair service for $125, in order to find the problem and then, be able to discuss the ™lemon™™ with customer service. The warranty was 3 years. No compensation, just an apology, we can™™t offer you any compensation for your $700 loss. Then they send you an email to buy from them an Electrolux product at a discount just a mere $664 and all the add ons at an additional cost, like to remove the old. They indicated I should have bought the extended warranty.The oil leak and evaporation cable was clearly manufactured incorrectly. This is just another example of an appliance not holding up. We™™ve only had this freezer a couple of weeks, but it™™s good so far. There™™s plenty of room, and the shelves are somewhat adjustable. It™™s very basic and affordable, which is what we wanted. I purchased the Frigidaire upright 16 cu. ft. freezer just a few days ago and it is working fine. I was a little concerned that the outside walls were very hot after first plugging it in and turning it on, but I understand that is normal. Since then, they have cooled down considerably. I like the wire shelving for circulation. It is frost free and economical to run. The for can be installed to open from either as desired. I™™m not was easy to unpack and even easier to assemble, basically comes assembled, but you have to remove a few things to get the packing off. Plugged it in and set the temperature. That™™s it! This freezer is a replacement for a Frigidaire Freezer that had been in our home since 2006 (18 years). The 'old' one, after years of flawless service, 'gave it up.' Our new Frigidaire Freezer (and we specifically wanted a Frigidaire again) has measured up thus far. Easy to install - cooled down quickly - and is working like a charm. It has an alarm that will sound and a light that will flash when the door is left open or the temperature drops below a certain level.
