Needs too many repairs

We™™ve had this microwave for less than two years. Within the first year (under warranty) we had to have it serviced because something internal was malfunctioning and continually tripping the GFCI outlet. Now two years later (and no longer under warranty) it™™s happening again. We had to just unplug the microwave because it trips the breaker just by being plugged in. We™™re trying to decide if it™™s worth now paying for a repair or just throwing in the towel and buying a new microwave. Originally posted on frigidaire.com

My purchased new Frigidaire Over the Range Microwave lasted only 25 months of light use and the magnetron failed (confirmed by Electrolux Service). $450 for the oven new, $100 service call to be told it would cost $450 to fix and have a 30-day warranty. $450.00 to buy a replacement. $76 for a 3-year 3rd party warranty extension. That's $1,076 to be sure I have a working microwave for 6 years. I've had inexpensive $150 microwave ovens last 8 years. I feel what's sold as a quality upgrade appliance should have lasted at least 5 years. Very disappointed. Originally posted on frigidaire.com

This OTR microwave looks really great but like other reviewers said it breaks down so quickly than other even cheaper Walmart based microwaves. All other microwaves they last forever but mine did not last longer. It looks like Magnetron damage which has normally 10 year™™s warranty but Frigidaire doesn™™t care and don™™t replace or fix the issue. I would really appreciate if Frigidaire can fix my microwave but looks like no help from call or txt or chat. Worst customer service experience!!! Please don™™t buy it!!!! What an improvement this appliance is from my last microwave! It's nice looking, both inside and out - inside it's a clean, crisp looking white, and outside very seamless black, with a control panel I can actually see - white lettering on black background, with a brightly lit clock. The handle is hidden on the side - no obstruction sticking out! Highly recommend this beauty. Runs like a charm, worth every penny, vey reasonably priced. Thank you Frigidaire! The microwave works well. The food cooks at the correct times and such. My only complaint is that when food is done or the timer is up, it beeps three consecutive times and then reads the clock again. I wish it would flash ™done™ until the door opens or you clear the screen. I forget I have water warming and when I remember I have to reheat items. My forgetfulness, yes. But still annoying.
