    My husband and I were ready for a washer and dryer that was going to last, and not require frequent servicing. In 15 years of marriage we have had 3 well-known brand washer and dryer sets that did not last and required relatively frequent servicing.     I have been underwhelmed by the quality in which it gets my clothes clean. I had re-read the User Guide twice, inquired online to help forums, changed detergent 3 times and still my clothes actually come out dirtier than when I put them in and washed them. I tried everything from soaking to pre wash. There are water marks and stains on my delicates. My sheets have comet stained too. I had only heard FABULOUS things about Speed Queen. I had a Whirlpool front-loader for 25 years and I wish they made my old model because it was the best! Here is an example of cleaning my Lulu workout gear with other gear. I turn them inside out, wash all like colors together on cold, I used liquid Tide for Coldwater this wash. When I took them out and hung them to dry. Once dry, I turned them back to inside in, and this is what was on them. This happens whether I washed them on cold or warm/cold. At first I thought it was the laundry pod so I stopped using the Tide pods and used the liquid. The stain mark does come out when I rub it with a sponge but this stain was not on them when I put them in the washing machine. Originally posted on SpeedQueen.com

    Lid Locking Frustration

    The lid locking design is the most frustrating feature I have ever experienced on a washer - and this is my 3rd Speed Queen. It takes far too long at the end of the cycle (or when pausing) for the locks to release the lid. 20+ seconds is just ridiculous. I can't get excited about all the other features when I have to fight the locks every day. This drops the product from a "5" to a "3" just on it's own. Next time I'll go with the lower grade option.     I recently purchased a speed queen washer and dryer. They are both so efficient and user friendly. I love how quiet they are. They have that old style with the touch screen new technology. I had front loaders and really disliked how dirty they became and their performance was awful. Speed queen washes and drys in less time and I truly feel my laundry is thoroughly cleaning our clothes and sheets. They are a bit smaller than most machines but fit better in my laundry room area. I honestly never heard of them but I saw TIK told about how great they were and after being disappointed by other big name brands I decided to try them.     Already the Lid Lock Broke

    Little plastic part #203643 already broke after less than a year of use. Looks like it was not installed correctly because it broke right at the screw holes. The lid would not open, so we undid the front and the lid lock mechanism just fell off in the inside of the machine. Not really happy with this feature.     Ok - but made with Cheap Plastic Parts

    Overall a good unit however the Speed Queen CFO and Controllers should be fired for allowing the use of substandard & cheap plastic parts (SQ 203643, Lid Lock Bezel) instead of letting competent engineers use a stronger/more durable material for this part. Can you imagine a $1600 machine being shut down by a 50 cent part ??? I can't unless some CFO/Controller got a "nice" bonus for a cost "savings" initiative. Hey Speed Queen owners and CEO, don't go the way of Chrysler and GM - stay with the Toyota Model (over engineer your parts). You will probably have repeat customers and much moreo positive reviews.     Coming from a rusty Samsung, the many built-in wash cycles are much faster. Spin cycle is very effective in removing excess water thereby shortening drying times. Delay Start is super handy as you can start the cycle when electric power is dirt cheap! Doing a load in very early hours avoids wet clothes from sitting in the washer too long overnight.
