    Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

    Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty.     Good fridge when it works. Looks nice and convenient features. However it needed a new compressor after about just under 4 years. That got replaced and now it has been unable to stay cold enough despite being serviced twice. Would try a different brand next time around. Originally posted on lg.com

    We bought this refrigerator in 2019 during our kitchen remodel. We fell in love with the modern features and the look. However since then weve had several technicians repair issues with the freezer building up ice in the blower. The technicians telling us that is a common occurrence with LG units. Weve also had trouble with the water dispenser continuously flowing water. After having faulty repair jobs we decided to disconnect the water line to the refrigerator and resort to using a Brita pitcher and buying bags of ice. What ultimately made us decide on replacement was that our dairy was beginning to spoil after opening it. Placing a thermometer inside confirmed that the temp was fluctuating and not keeping a consistent temp. Our family is very dissapointed with this refrigerator. Originally posted on lg.com

    We bought this unit on 01/23/2022 it was working great but on the 25th month of use just stop working right one month after the warranty expired we love the fridge but I think they built it to last only a couple years now we have to pay a technician to get it fixed and we dont know how long it is going to last till the unit breaks down again.     We bought this fridge 3.5 years ago it has served us well until 2 weeks ago when it just stopped cooling. We purchased a extended warranty so we were protected from a big repair bill.     Poorly designed and gimmicky.

    Deli tray is thin and weak. Both doors must be open to access it. The smart functionality is finicky. The shelves have very limited range and are difficult to move. There is an edge around every shelf that make them more difficult to clean. The door bins dont move up or down. You can only remove them which makes for less storage. Tall items such as a 2-liter bottle must be sideways. The storage in the freezer is basic at best. You will stack everything and always need to search under things to find whats in there. The ice dispenser is abysmal. You will have ice everywhere no matter what you use and how you use it. Changing the filter is a fight every 2-3 months. Originally posted on lg.com

    Absolutely horrible company. Linear Compressor failed 4 weeks ago. Lg approved the warranty but will not send the work order over to the local company. I have been calling them daily. I have 4 confirmation numbers and no one knows what they are doing at the call center. I will absolutely never buy anything made by LG again. I also will be joining the linear compressor lawsuit.     This refrigerator is only 4 years old and the compressor went out. Luckily I bought the 5 year extended warranty.     My experience with the teck that fixed my fridge was amazing I lost everything in my freezer and refrigerator due to it not working for 3 days and LG would not reimburse me because I didnt go without a refrigerator for 4 days I lost all the food in both top and bottom.     We bought this refrigerator in part for the ice maker and made a huge mistake. It is the only thing on this fridge that is the biggest piece of crap ever made. Makes ice but when it tries to dump just starts banging so if you like being kept up at night from your refrigerator going pop pop pop pop pop pop when trying to dump ice then this is the unit for you.     I purchased the LG refrigerator with high hopes but it has been nothing but a nightmare. Within weeks it stopped cooling leaving all my food to spoil. Dealing with customer support has been a nightmare taking over two weeks for parts to arrive. LG seems indifferent to consumer satisfaction as they continue to sell this faulty product in stores.     We brought our LG 5 years ago and it was great until about 9 months ago bottom ice maker stop working and 3 weeks ago the ice maker in door stop working call service out and he said that it was the compressor and that he could not doing anything for us Need to call LG support so I did was on phone for 1.5 with chat and they told me it the compressor and that it was cover but I must pay to have it installed and all the other stuff that goes alone with new compressor about $ 1600.00 so I guess will need to buy a new refrigerator no thanks to LG Originally posted on lg.com

    Lets start with the pros. The design is beautiful. The knock knock doors is very convenient. Lots of room inside. Now the cons. The ice dispenser ejects ice like missles. So be sure to put your glass up close. The LG OEM water filter are pricey and dont last long. And all the aftermarket ones dont fit well. Getting it in and out is also a pain. If you force it too hard it could break the all plastic components. Tip - you dont need a filter inside. Just install a whole house filter to the supply line. Much cheaper and last longer. Now the worse con. Without any warning the compressor failed in less than 5 years. Not even close to advertised 10 years life. A technician told me it would have cost be about $1100 to fix without warranty. Not recommended Originally posted on lg.com

    Like refrigerator but disappointed with wifi functions. Compressor failed after 4 yrs but was covered under warranty. Took too long to get service 2weeks. WiFi LinkQ could be have much more-functions but because of lazy engineering or marketing department HUA nothing useable is on LinkQ except telling you that time has elapsed sinc filters changed. Should be able to read internal temperatures and diagnose problems remotely. App is a joke limited to low consumer levels with no advanced? functions. This was a conscious decision by LG marketing they could have led the industry but chose not to. I guess they thought their customer is too stupid to handle information. Originally posted on lg.com

    Bought less than 4 years ago and the compressor now goes out Entire fridge and freezer full of food ruined and no working refrigerator. Since when could you only rely on a refrigerator for less than 4 years? There is no reason you want to pay several thousands of dollars for an appliance to only use for less than 4 years. Terrible workmanship and quality. Trying to make sure you keep buying new appliances instead of building quality appliances that last at least a decade for the cost. Garage fridge going on 25 years old and working wonderfully. Keep your old appliance if you can. Not a good sign of how well products are made to last. Compressor was luckily still covered and tech stated that this is not a rare thing. LG has a reputation for compressors going out quickly and not building a quality product. Two techs later and two bad reviews of LG stating that they wouldnt have these in their own home. Oh and new compressor is loud. Like a constant humming noise in the background which wasnt the case with the original. Sounds like an Amazon truck is in front of your house idling but never goes away. Called tech and he said yep thats their new compressors they require us to use. Cant change or fix it. Learn to live with it. Ugh Originally posted on lg.com

    My refrigerator went out with less than 2 years of owning it I called LG for service and they told me someone will call me to schedule maintenance appointment and I hadnt heard back from anyone I had to get my refrigerator repaired and it was the mother board and motor both went out.     We bought the LG with the French doorsviewable window and ice /water dispenser on the door three years ago. At first we had no problem and loved the refrigerator. After about a year water started to drip from the water dispenser port. After trying to locate why it was dripping I found that when the automatic ice cube maker is full it starts to drip out this port. Next we noticed that our food was starting to freeze on the top shelf so we had to raise the temperature one degree and the freezing stopped. The next issue was the water filter. The changing of the filter is IMPOSSIBLE. Apparently after talking to a LG representative they are aware of the problem and advised on how to reset a plastic part that would allow you to replace the filter. BUT if you break the filter housing piece it wont be covered because youre not an authorized technician and it would void the warranty. As it turns out LGis aware of the problem but didnt authorize a recall. As a result I had to use the extended warranty I purchased. If I had not purchased the warranty it would cost $400 to replace. Even in light of these design flaws we like our LG refrigerator and hope it lasts another 10 years. Originally posted on lg.com
